I’m Lydia, homeschool mama to four lovely kiddos, ages 8, 6, and 4 year old twins. Having kids this close in age has been a blast, and also very chaotic! I was homeschooled myself, all the way through – my first experience in a classroom setting was college. I’m married to Cory, who pastors a small church in Columbus, Ohio. I love being a pastor’s wife (I am actually also a pastor’s kid!) I get a front row seat to seeing him fulfill his calling, and he supports me pursuing and fulfilling my calling so well.
We love the flexibility, curiosity, and relationship-building that comes with homeschooling. I’ve spent a fair amount of time researching and reading about different homeschool philosophies, and we find ourselves aligning most closely with the Charlotte Mason style of home education. I’m not a purist, however, we feel so enriched leaning into the beauty, goodness and truth in our world.
Homeschooling has become a huge part of our lives. In some ways, it feels like a full time job! But it also feels like a natural extension of our parenting. Building connection with our kids and sharing God’s love with them has always been a central piece of our goal as parents.
When I’m not homeschool planning, hands-on parenting, or keeping house, I love taking in a good book (almost exclusively paper – I struggle with audiobooks!), baking something tasty, or working on a craft project (I sew, knit, and embroider). I also love thrifting, but I don’t do it much because the kids haven’t built up the patience to do it with me yet.
